Introducing Catherine Ursillo

We are proud to represent the work of Catherine Ursillo. This is a special collection of photography including silver gelatin prints developed from original negatives. All inquiries for sales and licensing to be directed to Modern Art Etc.

Catherine began her professional photographic career as a staff photographer for the anti-war paper The New York Free Press and worked for newspapers and magazines covering the political crisis of the 70s.

She continued her work for corporations, industrial and editorial clients. Her photographs have appeared in magazines, textbooks, annual reports, corporate brochures and photo book collections.

She has exhibited her work in the U.S. and Europe, with one-woman shows at Nikon Gallery, Soho Photos, (she was a founding member of Soho Photo), Forum, Trade Center Gallery and others. Group shows have included Leica Gallery, First Woman’s Bank, MIT, United Nations, Museum of Natural History, Museum of the City of New York and others.

She has had portfolios published in many photo anthologies, including Family of Women, Photo, Zoom, Popular Photograph, Women See Men and others. She established and directed the photography department for Chemical Bank.

She also represented OXFAM on a trip to Vietnam, Cambodia, Bangladesh and Australia.

Contemporary Ink Paintings by Wu Lan-Chiann

In 2010, the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, curated an exhibition "Fresh Ink" that explored the landscape of contemporary Chinese ink paintings. Christie's and Sotheby's soon held private sales in recognition of this movement of what is essentially an ancient Chinese ink method, explored in new ways by its artists.

One of the artists presented in Christie's Chinese ink events is Wu Lan-Chiann, a rare female painter recognized in the Chinese ink and brush method.

Launch of our Icons and People series

This is a new and growing selection of photography of iconic figures, as well as ordinary people going about their life in a different moment in time. Some of these images are published for the first time, available exclusively through gallery.

In this new series, we presented photography of noted African American photographers like Guy Crowder, Harry Adams: photography of iconic Americans transcending race, in their legacy making actions to help, they who have brought their talents, fortitude, creativity to the world. Some of them are heroes of all time, who have dedicated their lives to advancing peace, justice and equality, making a fairer, more equitable, civil society. Their indelible influence changed the world.
